Absentee Ballot Information

Voters may download the Absentee Ballot Application from our website at www.ips.k12.ny.us or they can request one from Marianne DeCicco, District Clerk by phone at 516-434-2600,

email Marianne DeCicco, mdecicco@islandparkschools.org or by mailing your request to Island Park Schools, Attn:  Marianne DeCicco, 99 Radcliffe Road, Island Park, NY  11558. 

Who is eligible to cast an absentee ballot rather than have to vote in person?

An absentee ballot can be used by any registered resident who is unable to appear in person on the day of the school district election for any of the following reasons: 

  • An individual that is a patient in a hospital, or is unable to appear personally at the polling place due to illness or physical disability
  • An individual that is required to be outside of the county on the day of the vote because of special duties, occupation, business, or studies
  • An individual that is on vacation elsewhere on such day
  • An individual that is detained in jail awaiting action by a grand jury, awaiting trial or  confined to prison after a conviction for an offense other than a felony

Other requirements are: 

  • An individual must be a United States citizen
  • An individual must be a registered voter in the district
  • An individual must be 18 years of age
  • An individual must reside in the district for 30 days before the election 

Procedures:

  • An individual who wants to request an absentee ballot must complete, sign and return the Absentee Ballot Application to the District Clerk – at Island Park Schools, 99 Radcliffe Road, Island Park, NY 11558 by May 14, 2019
  • Absentee ballots can only be delivered to individuals who have applied for the absentee ballot
  • All signed and completed absentee ballots must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 21, 2019 to the District Clerk’s office at 99 Radcliffe Road, Island Park, NY and not any polling place to be valid
  • Residents who are registered with the Nassau County Board of Elections as “Permanently Disabled” will be sent their ballots automatically and need not apply
