The school district's Recreation Department offers a wide variety of programs for residents ranging in age from pre-school through senior citizens. During the school year, two semesters of adult recreational evening programs as well as Friday evening and Saturday morning youth programs are offered.
Adult Zumba @ LOMS
with Certified Zumba Instructor, ANDREA WOOL
If you are looking for a way to get in shape and have fun at the same time, then this is the program
for you. No dancing experience is required. Beginners are encouraged to join. A water bottle and
small towel should be brought to each session. Light weights are optional. Sneakers must be worn.
Empire Casino Trip
The Island Park School District Department of Recreation
is happy to announce its return excursion this
Spring to the Empire Casino at Yonkers Raceway!
This casino has electronic roulette and baccarat and
over 5,300 slot machines. It offers a variety of eateries
to suit every guest’s appetite.
Youth Soccer Clinic/Spring Session
K- Grade 4
5:00 p.m.– 6:00 p.m.
Lincoln Orens Middle School
This drop-off and non-competitive program is an introduction to the popular game of soccer.
Basic skills will be taught. The gym will be split up by grade level.
CLEATS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
Island Park Recreation Swim Program
Grades 1 – 8 Thursdays 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (see above flyer for dates)
JCC at 15 Neil Court in Oceanside
Our program returns for another season of swim lessons. The Department of Recreation is pleased
to announce that due to many requests, 1st graders are welcome to be part of the swim program!
Families provide transportation to and from the JCC. Due to limited space, families are not allowed
to stay to observe lessons. Please have your child arrive 15 minutes before the start of each session.
The lessons are taught by certified instructors employed by the JCC. Swim ability level will be tested
at the first session on January 19, 2017. Our recreation staff will be on hand to take attendance and to
assist in the locker rooms. Long hair must be tied back. Jewelry is not allowed. Label all belongings
Adult Yoga/Spring Sessions

This program will teach various yoga techniques, poses and breathing that can help you relieve
stress and back tension. Wear loose clothing and bring a towel or yoga mat to each session.
Youth Volleyball Clinic
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm (grades 3-5)
7:15 pm – 8:15 pm (grades 6-8)
Lincoln Orens Middle School
The Recreation coaches will emphasize the fundamentals of volleyball, including proper technique,
physical fitness, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Wear sneakers!
RECREATION SPRING AND SUMMER PROGRAMS
The recreation spring brochures are out and we will have an
evening registration night on Thursday, May 4, 5:30pm-8:30pm
at LOMS. At this time you can sign up for spring programs and our
upcoming Summer Experience 2017. We accept cash, check
